1D | Little Patients, Big Coding Challenges: Mastering Pediatric ICD-10-CM & ICD-10-PCS
Pediatric coding requires more than applying ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS guidelines. The coders must understand pediatric anatomy, embryologic development, and surgical technique to code accurately. This interactive, case-based session examines the most complex pediatric inpatient coding scenarios: ICD-10-CM guidance for perinatal conditions, congenital malformations, and common pediatric illnesses, followed by ICD-10-PCS coding for pediatric nervous system and respiratory procedures, including ventriculoperitoneal shunts, craniosynostosis repair, Chiari malformation and myelomeningocele surgery, tracheostomy, lung resection, and pediatric lung transplantation. Attendees will leave able to interpret pediatric documentation and select accurate codes with confidence.

6D | Inside the Chest: ICD-10-PCS Coding for Bronchoscopic, Pleural, and Resection Procedures
Bronchoscopic and pleural/resection procedures generate some of the most root-operation-dependent codes in ICD-10-PCS, where the same instrument or scope can map to different codes depending on what is accomplished. This advanced session works through the respiratory procedures coders see most in the diagnostic bronchoscopy suite such as biopsy, lavage, foreign body and mucus plug removal, endobronchial valve placement, and airway dilation and stenting, alongside pleural and resection procedures including wedge resection, VATS-approached procedures, pleural biopsy, decortication, and pleurodesis. Attendees will leave able to select the correct root operation, body part, and device value for each, and defend code selection under audit.
