Spine surgery coding using PCS codes is vastly different from CPT code assignment for spine surgery.  The code distinctions are based on approach and the anatomical area of the spine worked on.  The rules of what can and can’t be billed separately are also unique to PCS coding for these services. Understanding minimal invasive approaches to the spine in PCS versus open procedures presents challenges for coders.  This session will de-mystify the nuances and rules associated with coding these services.
